Ballarat
tram number 39 was built by Duncan and Fraser Ltd for the Prahran and
Malvern Tramways Trust in 1914. It was eventually classified an E class
by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board. The original number
of this vehicle was number 42. When sold to the State Electricity Commission
in 1951 the car was renumbered 39.
This painting dipicts
tramcar 39 on its way to Sebastopol on the Ballarat System in 1971.
This tram is now preserved
at the Ballarat Tramway Preservation Society and is used as their souviner
shop at their depot.
